Dental Crowns: Stages of Preparation

The process of creating a crown involves multiple steps and typically takes between 7 and 10 days.

The phases of crown preparation are:

  • Stage I: The tooth is shaped by grinding to prepare it for the crown placement.
  • Stage II: We take an impression, choose the color and material for the crown, and place a temporary crown while the permanent one is being made. This temporary crown covers the prepared tooth and helps maintain good aesthetic appearance.
  • Stage III: The crown is manufactured in a prosthodontic laboratory.
  • Stage IV: Permanently cementing the crown with a special bonding material.
