Many people put off visiting the dentist until they get a toothache. By then, the tooth is most likely already inflamed. Sometimes a tooth that was previously treated may cause pain. If it happens, it is often necessary to consult an endodontist and get root canal treatment. We have a separate section of our offer dedicated to endodontics.
Toothache can also occur when biting down or consuming sweets and hot or cold foods. This is often a brief, sharp pain. If it happens, it is advisable to consult a periodontist: a specialist in gum diseases. You can find more information on this topic in the Periodontology section.
Toothache may also be caused by misaligned bite (malocclusion). Topics related to restoring proper bite alignment are discussed in our Orthodontics and Dental Prosthetics sections.
